Learn Your Canon DSLR

How to get off auto, choose the right shooting mode, and make photos with confidence

Your photo shoot in one word. Aaaaaargggh!

Ever feel like just screaming when you download your photos from a shoot?

You wasted so much time fidgeting with your camera rather than shooting. And the photo you thought would be the money shot? Zero!

To make things worse, everyone else from the same shoot is posting these amazing images. The whole experience has you wondering "What am I doing wrong???"

It's not your fault

For too long the camera industry has treated us like engineers and not regular people. Too many acronyms, fractions, and complicated rules. It's like they are trying to confuse you.

What we need is an explanation with simple step-by-step instructions, so you can easily create what you see in front of you.

Take the photography class made for Canon photographers struggling to learn your camera

Is this for you?

I have helped thousands of beginners and enthusiasts learn to take great pictures, and in that time, we've learned that certain types of people learn best with us.

Do you see yourself in any of these scenarios?

Passionate photographer
  • You are always the one who has the camera. Everyone assumes you will be the one who will take the family photos.
  • You are never in any vacation photos. The family vacation memories are seen through your eyes. And that's the way you like it.

New camera owner
  • You just bought a fancy new camera, and you want to get the most out of it.
  • You aren't sure what all those buttons do, but you are sure that you could be awesome if you did.
  • You tried reading books and watching YouTube videos, but you are still a little confused.

Ready to get better
  • You see a great shot in your head, but when you take the photo, it never looks the same.
  • You take 100 shots and get a few good ones, but it is mostly by chance. You'd like to be more deliberate about making great pictures.
  • People tell you that you have a good eye for photography. You think you do okay, but you would love to get better.

Back from a break
  • You took photography classes a long time ago when you were in school. You decided to get back into it again. Now you need to relearn the basics.
  • Your parents were photographers. You grew up with cameras and learned from them. Now it's time to step out on your on.
  • You used to shoot film cameras a long time ago. You just rediscovered photography with digital, and you are energized.

Yes, I made this class for you

  • The lessons are specific for Canon DSLR cameras. You will learn how each lesson applies to the camera you own.

Here's what they said

Great class, Lynford! Good review for me and added new information as well. Lynford gave me a clear understanding of my camera's settings and when to use them. Thanks again, Lynford.
Linda
...he does provide instruction on how to become best friends with my camera and get much closer to "catching the photo" I want to get. Plus, Lyn doesn't make you feel like you are a dummy because you don't know your camera as well as a professional might.
Rick
I learned a lot and will immediately put those things into practice. Lynford is such a great teacher. Thanks Lynford!
Sharon B
Lyn is an amazing teacher! Wow. He was easy to understand/follow. I think I got sooo much more out of this than the price I paid for. Thanks again Lyn!
Helen L
I've been in two classes already and found learning something new each time. Moreover, I really appreciate Lyn's enthusiasm toward photography and patience in his students' learning.
Willie
Lynford's style was clear and straight forward - easy to understand and put into practice immediately.
Melanie L
The class was great! Thank you for offering it, Lynford! I needed to learn the fundamentals and your instruction helped me to understand it easily. I also know what all those buttons on my camera are for.
Karen
Awesome session today. I will never use the "automatic" setting ever again!
